P3D IMAX

I viewed L-5 at the Space Center last week...

There *were* objects behind the screen... not often but especially during
the "out in space" sequences. I noticed them even for some interior shots.
     Polaroid glasses were used.

IMHO the plot is pretty dippy as is the acting. I don't think L-5 type
communities will be as idyllic as pictured and of course one won't be able to
see the *stars* at varying depths. Actually, when backed off far enough to get
all of the station in the frame, I don't expect one will see as much depth in
the station as is depicted in the film.

I agree that most image disparity in real life happens within 50 feet and
will be in front of the IMAX screen. And the wide field of view makes the
*window* less apparent. But they really ought to bring(or even have) window
framing in front of scene objects in some closeup "frame breaking" scenes.

Does anyone know if "infinity superimposed on the screen" is an official
policy of IMAX or is that just what people have observed or been told by some
flunky at the venue?
With the screen at a distance of 50 to 70 feet, I'm not too distressed.
It just points to the very small contribution vergence adds to the "3D"
experience.
Common slide projection practice violates infinity spacing all the time
without much comment or consternation. The human mind seems to note the
relative image object disparities and does the correction needed to seem
natural.
