P3D realist processing

Friends

Took a little trip to Richmond, VA, finally, to get my backlog of new
Realist photography processed. I submitted seven rolls of film to the
photo desk at a Target store, and crossed my fingers!

About two weeks later, they had come back from Kodalux, all mounted up. Of
the over 200 mounted stereo pairs, only two were very badly mounted (severe
rotational error), though not entirely unviewable. The rest were mounted
fine - up to my expectations.

It is true that placement of the (depth of the) stereo window was perfectly
random: sometimes correct in front of everything, sometimes pushed back a
ways, sometimes at or beyond infinity. Given the slightly variable
placement of images on the film strips, and the automated cutting and
mounting process, I don't see how they can do any better.

I was less impressed with the cleanliness of the slides. I was kept busy
with my trusty duster (I use canned compressed air).

But given my cost of about $5.50 per roll, I was very, very pleased. I
paid less for these than for my regular E-6 processing (4 hour local
service) - and no mounting hassles!

A few of the slides will go to the Salons, and these I will remount.
Duping is another matter, I may just have to forego that luxury.

Respectfully submitted,

Boris Starosta

P.S. is there a Kodalux information line (or Web resource), that would
inform me if anyone offered Kodalux services here in Charlottesville?

Thanks,
