P3D Re: conversions?

I'm not going to reprint the whole thread of this debate, but I think Boris
is mostly right; most of the images in question appear to be conversions. I
haven't time to tear them apart as much as Boris has, but my quick
examination shows a number of flaws that give them away. However:
>Boris writes:
Another tiny bit of supporting evidence: if it is debatable, whether an
image has been tampered with, one thing is always true in these
conversions: One of the images is the original photograph, the other is
"fabricated." So as you examine the pairs, even if you cannot put your
finger on a definite artifact, you can see that only one half-pair appears
to have edges of lesser quality, or odd textures.<
This seems to be the case here, but it is not always true, however. Not
true of a lot of my photo conversions, anyway, especially the ones I've
done for autostereo displays.
Most of the artifacts Boris notes stem from the amount of labor involved in
conversions; most artists end up cutting corners, so stuff like this is
left in the scene. But it doesn't HAVE to be like that.

Yes, the overlapping body parts make this a tough one to convert, but not
impossible. Not by a long shot. I would charge a lot for it, of course. :).
But I think you're right on this image: looks like "real" parallax to me,
too.

We're a strange culture, there's no doubt about that. Probably because
every other country sends all their oddballs over here. Being an oddball
myself, I love it. But sorry if you're offended by the American mania for
filtering. It annoys me sometimes too.
See y'all when I get back in town.
