I've taken some stunning pictures in Greece without a light meter; of
course, Greece has stunning light!
Using Dr. T's modified sunny 16 rule, I got a lot of great shots when
the weather was less than sunny. The key, I think, is to not be afraid
to experiment. It's worth repeating: don't be afraid to experiment.
I don't have a flash for my Realist either, but that didn't stop me
from experimenting inside of museums (where flashes aren't allowed
anyway). I've got an amazing shot of a reconstructed bronze minoan-era
bull which was in a dark room at the museum in Delphi.
If something inside of a museum *really* captivates you, take multiple
shots with different F-stops and shutter speeds. One of them will
probably please you. I'm going to do a lot more experimentation indoors
at my local museums, taking notes this time.
Thank you Dr. T!

To my untrained eyes, I'm pretty happy with the projection
results I've gotten so far. I have to admit, I'm a bit perplexed
about all this talk of adjustments - once I've gotten things in
focus, I don't need to change the focus very often. Maybe because
I've consistently, more-or-less, mounted my slides the same.
I think beginners should pretty much ignore, or not feel
intimidated by, the more technical discussions here.
It ain't rocket science and shouldn't be made out to be such.
Although I'm sure I'll get pickier as I become more experienced.
But for now, I'm unsullied by all the minutia and happy as a clam.
