P3D 3D-CD is great!

Okay, I'm convinced.
I had previously only looked at the
3D-CD on my monchrome Mac and was happy
with the purchase but not thrilled. This
machine is pretty slow (7100/66 PowerPC)
and the throughput off the CD wasn't much
better than I get from the internet (through
our 1.5Mbps T1 connection). Still better
than dial-up but not "wow" speed. I was pretty
sure the Mac/CD rom drive were the problems.
Today, on my lunch hour, I tried the CD
on a resonably fast Pentium PC. What a
difference. Virtually everything just
pops up. I zoomed through Dan Shelley's
APEC photos in no time. Very nice (and the
higher dpi monitor helped with my freeviewing).
Downloading Larry Berlin's animated
window demo averaged 70kbytes per sec.
My Mac only averaged 30kbytes per second
after much ramp up time (the ramp up time
is the reason most small files/sites load slowly
on it. At first it only loads at 1 or 2kbytes
per second).
It was also nice to see people's sites
in colour for the first time. Dalia's site
is very nice in colour.
I noticed a typo in the main menu BTW.
It says "Jeremy Hinton's Balloning" not
Ballooning site. Do I get a prize? :)
Thanks Dan.
