They do. Tektronix offered polarizing filters that go on the front
of computer screens since some time so long ago I don't recall
how long it's been since I first saw them. That same technology
is still available today (transferred to another company), and
still works absolutely great. And you can buy it from them.
But it's quite spendy. And in front of a TV it'd be even spendier
as well as flicker city.
Poeple watching only need cheap glasses, so it might be cheaper
for showing a very large group of people, but the thing that
goes over the screen to provide the switching polarizing function
is very spendy.
