RE: Paul's cable jumps out easily. That is because the conical 
(GERMAN Prontor/Compur type) doesn't really fit, but catches for 
light use. The Realist and other American cameras (e.g. the movie 
ones) use the ASA cable release socket that has a square thread. Most 
likely maker was Kodak, but they made both types as the German 
Retina 35mm had the German type. The flash on the Kodak Stereo is the 
ASA bayonet but most cameras have the unreliable but cute PC flash 
pin connection (PC being Protor/Compur both gobbled up into Zeiss 
Foundation.) American stereo cameras all seem to have copied the 
non-standard hot shoe of the Realist or their own concoction (TDC 
VIVID.) BobH
