P3D Archival Storage

Greetings 3Dlings,
Here is an archival Realist format storage method that I like.
- Archival pages for stereo slides sold by Paul Talbot. They hold 10 RBT
mounted slides in an easy to view system. (Paul suggests you can put more
paper or Albion mounts if you stack them, but I prefer one slide per slot
so I can view the entire page) Approx $.50 per sheet.
- "True Core Binder Box" from Light Impressions. This is an archival,
light-tight box with standard 1 1/2" three ring binders. The boxes cost
$10.95 - $8.75 depending upon the number ordered. #9254
One box holds approximately 14 of Paul Talbot's archival pages loaded with
RBT mounted slides, or 140 pairs per box. I won't bore you with the math,
but pages and box cost average to approximately $.12 per RBT mounted slide.
Paper or Albion mounts reduce the cost per unit, as more pages can be
fitted in each box.
Considering the cost of film, processing, and mounting I feel the added
expense of long-term archival storage to be minimal. Other than the obvious
archival protection, the ease of locating individual slides is an added
benefit. I often free-view the slides as I scan the pages.
Disclaimer: I have no association with Paul Talbot (he has been pleasant to
deal with) or Light Impressions other than being a satisfied customer of
their products.

BTW - I know this may not be a solution for many people but it works well
for me. I like to think that in 50 years Photo-3D digest #21,856 will
contain discussions about the great 3-D photos, still rich in color and
contrast, that we have preserved for them to enjoy.
"Long live archival storage" #8-)
