P3D Re: Searching CD, P3-D

I have used AltaVista's personal search which has an indexer that
runs periodically (or manually) and indexes my computer.  It then
has an interface with my web browser which I use to search my own
disks in much the same way I'd use AltaVista's search engine on the
web.

But it's not available anymore.

AltaVista now has the Beta-1 version of "Discovery" available, which
sounds like it could be the "new version" rumoured to become available.
However, there isn't a Mac version (Win 95/NT 4.0 only).

Don't know if there will be a Mac version when they are "done".

P.S. - I had it index my disk-copy of the CDROM, but I probably could
       have had it index the CDROM directly, although the indexing which
       is kind of slow to begin with may have been REALLY slow accessing
       the CDROM directly (and perhaps quasi-randomly).
