Without going to something exotic (like a Java based search using a 
browser), probably the simplest thing (althogh I've not tried it yet) is to
use BBEDIT (either Lite or Standard) and use the search function there.
You can specify a "word match" criteria, with multi-file searching. I use
it quite a bit in maintaining the on-line archives.

You can find the shareware "Lite" version at your friendly internet 
based Mac archive.
