P3D Re: Stereo prints

To support the comments about using local print proccessing, I offer the
folowing advice:
1) When loading the film, be sure to properly expose the "wasted" film which
will be adjacent to the first good 3D images. The autoexposure on the
printing equipment is uniformly weighted. This way only the last pair will
have blank edges and be printed light. ([f you have widely varying exposures
on the roll, you will have lots of this problem - so try to avoid that :-) ]
2) When you take in the rolls, take an example of an untrimmed print. Only
go to places that print 3 1/2 x 5 as the standard option (Moto-Foto and
others)
3) Ask them not to use their half-frame mask (you lose lots of image), not to
try to align the edge of the image with one side of the print (they do a bad
job of the trimming that you need to do to set the window), and not to cut the
negatives.
4) Thank them for their fine work, show them a mounted card to get their
interest, and shoot lots of film like Dr. T so that they want your business!

I have used numerous 1-hour labs in the Atlanta area, with no problems. Small
variations in exposure are not obvious when viewing in 3D. If it's a good
image to be sent in for competition, I have the offending image reprinted,
according to the exposure settings which have been automatically printed on
the good image, to get a match.
