P3D RE: Slide Mounting Adhesive?

In photo-3d digest 2843 Michael Georgoff asks about sealing Spicer
mounts.
The method I use (and the one I will be demonstrating in Jon Golden's
workshop at NSA 98) is as follows:
I place the chips so that the top is towards the fold in the mount. I
place a piece of silver mylar tape (sold as slide masking tape at
most photo stores - I prefer 1/4 inch, the 3/8 sold by Reel-3D is too
wide for my tastes) along the bottom edge of each chip. This piece is
just a little smaller than the width of the mount. After pressing the
tape down with my finger I take the bottom of my tweezers and run it
along the bottom edge of the chip to get a good seal. I then close
the mount and use the same tape to seal the bottom open edge of the
mount. This piece is also just a little smaller than the total width
of the mount.
The reason I mount this way is that I want the untaped edge of the
mount to be on the bottom when slid in the projector (helps reduce
jammed slides) and the taped edge of the chip to be at the top (so
chip expansion doesn't have to push up).
I have not had any problem with this method in the thousand plus
slides I have mounted in Spicers. They have never slipped or come
apart and only occasionally showed any signs of bowing. If this is
too bad you can always tape the sides.
The other thing you can do is place the Spicer in and EMDE Binder
with ONE piece of glass. This makes a perfect mount for competitions
or slide shows with the Brackett projector.
Someone (sorry forgot who) posted about cutting the Spicer in half
and placing it in the binder with two pieces of glass. This defeats
my whole purpose of using the Spicer mounts which is to be able to
mount all my slides at one time in the same manner and then go back
and pick out the ones I want to send to a competition or put in a
show and just stick them in the binder/glass (I can even take them
back out when I am done if I wanted). If I knew ahead of time which
ones these were I would probably use Albion masks and double glass in
the EMDE Binder.
Speaking of EMDE, has anyone taken Dennis Sherwood up on his offer to
sell all the EMDE dies and inventory? I sure would like to see the
Binder back in production.
Thanks for the time and see you at NSA 98.
