P3D Help ID Realist Items

Ran across a stash of Realist (David White) stuff at an antique mall
yesterday. I bought some items at reasonable prices (a cutter, masks,
glass), but couldn't conclusively identify a couple of other items and,
thus, left them behind.

The first was a heat sealer of some sort, brown bakelite plastic housing
approx. 6"X4"X4". The only access to the heating element appeared to be a
narrow slot about the width of a standard mount along the top of the unit.
I'm not sure how this device was used. Anyone else?

The second item was some kind of heavy-duty, three-piece mounting jig.
It's composed of a cast base designed to hold a mount, a fairly heavy
metal insert or die to press down on that mount, and a small, detachable
bakelite plastic handle to hold and manipulate the insert/die. My best
guess is that this is some kind of heat sealer -- that the insert/die
is heated somehow and then pressed in to seal a hot-seal mount.

Does anyone know more about how these items are/were used? I don't plan to
use heat seal mounts, but I wonder whether I should've picked these things
up for someone else if they're still useable.

Mark
