P3D Misc. 3-D info needed

Hi, could you tell me more about the 'Discover 3-D' device that was
spoken of. Not seeing a photo of it, I really couldn't picture in my
mind what was being described. Is there a web site for it or printed
brochures somewhere?
I'm an x-professional photographer who is getting back into 3-D after
not using it for several years. It's very difficult to find 3-D
anything! I hope to meet informative and nice people on the Photo 3-D
newsgroup who can tell me about other 3-D items and techniques. I have
only been on the Photo 3-D mail list for a week now. In the past
whenever I mentioned to someone (2-D photographer or ordinary person)
that I do 3-D photography, they either did not know what I was talking
about or thought I was some 'quack' that did 1950's anaglyph photos that
gave you a headache! I have definately noticed that 3-D 'anything' is
not very liked by the general public for some reason and does not
generally sell well (in my experience). I have tried to market my 3-D
photo skills in the past and potential clients looked at me like I was 2
cards short of a full deck!. I have even had MANY MANY people tell me
that they don't see 3-D photos in 3-D whether it's anaglyph, lenticular
or stereo! Most (about 95%) of conventional 2-D photographers I meet
think 3-D is the stupidest thing they have ever seen! I really don't
understand where this attitude comes from. It seems like if you were
into photography you would like all forms of it, not just 2-D.
I just bought a 'Franka' 3-D beam splitter for my SLR camera. I have
not used it yet since it just came yesterday. Has anyone used a device
like this, and what were your results if you did use it? Any suggestions
on use?
One more question, if you are a member of NSA, what do you get from
joining the organization? I have heard others on the list mention it (I
just joined the list a week ago, so keep in mind that I don't know what
was discussed bfore) and was curious how it could benifit me as a
hobbiest 3-D photographer. Does NSA have a web site? Is it worth the
money to join in your opinion?
Thanks for your time and help.
Sincerely,
Joseph Covington
