P3D The Heartbreak of Stereopsis

I don't know why people think 3D folk are strange.

Just because I stand in antique stores looking at viewcards with the
free-viewer's thousand-yard stare until a clerk comes up and gently
tells me that "you need a steriopticam to look at them things".

Or because I habitually grab my in-laws' magazines off the coffee
table and start looking at them cross-eyed or with pocket mirrors to
find "accidental" stereopairs. 

Or because maybe I watch bad tv shows with a pair of children's
sunglasses with one lens poked out on the chance of a Pulfrich
encounter.

Or if I casually peruse a Victoria's Secret catalog left on the bus
with my pinkies in front of my eyes trying to finally master Ken
Dunkley's techniques.

Come to think of it, if some student of visual phenomena figures out a
way to see stereo at the movies by jumping on your left foot while
balancing a pineapple on your head - I honor you - but maybe you
shouldn't tell me about it. ;-)
