TDC's repair manual says to either replace the reel (right...) or to
rebuild it via the screw technique (which it details in it's own way).  

If there's interest I probably can scan the several pages applicable
and put it on my web site.

I just substantially upgraded my PC at home over the last week so it isn't 
so slug-like  and I'm assuming  that the scanner still works, but I haven't 
tried  it yet.  But everything else seems to work okay (so far).  :-)
