P3D Polaroid Close-Up Lenses on Realist?

I'd like to do some close-up stereo photography and I'm considering two
ways to go.

One is get a close up set (+1, +2, +4) for the old SLR to shoot, shift,
shoot. Advantage here is that I can see what I'm focusing on and I've
got a built in meter.

The other option I'm considering is an old Polaroid 540 close-up set,
thinking that the lens diameter on these would be approximately right to
work on the Realist 3.5. Advantage here is that I can do the occasional
close-up "mid-roll", and I use the Realist far more often than I use the
SLR. Disadvantages are: 1) have to figure out how to mount lenses
(probably not a big deal), 2) I'd have to "aim" at the object rather
than being able to frame it in the viewfinder of the SLR (as parallax
rules out viewfinder framing on the Realist, but framing 1/2 way between
left or right rangefinder window and viewfinder might be close), and 3)
focus would be by charts, tables, formulas rather than eyeball. Realist
close-up process: Block left lens, close-up lenses on right. Shoot.
Shift. Block right lens, close-up lenses on left. Shoot. (I've got
black paper inside an old Realist filters that I use for left/right lens
blocking.)

Has anyone out there done close up work using +1, +2, +4 on a Realist?
Any voices of experience, opinions, theories, ideas, comments?

Thanks!
