I don't know that I have ever seen National Geographic on newsstands,
and I always had the impression that the magazine was by subscription
("membership") only.  Whether I'm right or wrong, you can get single
issues by calling the Single Copy desk at 1-800-777-2800.  Prices on
issues vary, ranging from about $4 to $20.  I belive the current issue
would sell for $5, but check me out on this.
