Dan Shelley asked who among us has tried Dave Harvey's/SofTreat's Stereo
Image Factory free demo program?

Yes, Dan, I did and it was love at first sight. I highly recommend it to
everyone.  It's great software, smooth running, well designed, and easy
to use. I was so impressed I bought the registered version, and Dave has
already upgraded it for free.  I use it for all my anaglyphs and stereo
pairs. I've also found Dave Harvey to be a very responsive person,
someone who really cares about his customers, and takes an interest in
their individual 3D activities.  

Now, here's something else folks can do with the program: 

As I recently remarked to a friend, I've often bemoan the fact I did not
discover the pleasures and treasures of 3D photography many years ago. 
Here I'm thinking of snapshots of friends and family members who have
since passed away.  As some compensation I very recently taught myself
how to create simulated 3D anaglyphs from 2D photos. Using Dave's Stereo
Image Factory and a paint program that has a clone brush I spend many
enjoyable hours creating anaglyphs from old family photos--some going
back 90 years. 

Certainly most of the members here already know of ways do 2D / 3D
anaglyphs, but, as a newbie, it was a new discovery for me.   Anyone who
doesn't know -- and wants to know -- can e-mail me for details of the
steps I use.
