P3D FED reliability

I appreciate the on- and off-list info about the FED. I never heard about
the rods before--that goes a long way toward explaining why the FED is
sometimes unreliable [rods connect different items on the left and right 
side of the camera; they bend in time]. And it was revealing to hear
someone describe one as "flimsy"--I've always heard "durable but poorly
assembled." Having seen pictures of them, though, and given their unique
advantages of 7-perf format, auto exposure (it would probably be fine for
most of the subjects I shoot), and excellent f/2.8 lenses, if I got one
I probably would never part with it!
