P3D VM stuff

I was looking at some old reels and on one particular one, which is a
church interior, there are some people and there are also some half
exposed transparent ghost people.  I assumed that the pictures were
along exposure and those people move during the picture.  Then I
looked at another reel and noticed the same phenomenon, but the
picture was taken on a bright, sunny day.  The exposture couldn't have
been that long, as the water in the pool is still in the picture.  Can
anyone tell me whey there are ghost people?

Plus, is it possible (of course it is, I really mean not too hard) to
retrofit a model D with a plastic advance lever, so not to mark up my
clean old reels with the black ring?  Is there anykind of light
attachment product for the model L?  Has anybody ever built one?
