Ronald Beck wrote about using rubber bands to put two cameras together
for stereo purposes.
I use two cheap point & shoot cameras that I mount base to base on a
small (about 8 inches long x 1 1/2 high and 3 inches wide) piece of wood,
using rubber bands. I vary the separation by moving the cameras around
on the piece of wood. Using the wood the long way I have about a 10 1/2
" lens separation, which makes good hypers. I put the cameras base to
base, leaving out the wood, for portraits. I call this particular rig
"The Artists Special" as I am trying to convince some of the people in
the Columbus Artists Guild to use this type camera to make the pictures
they paint from.
As far as gluing cameras together, I have done that also. I epoxied
together, base to base, two single use waterproof cameras that were good
for up to 12 feet (as I recall) depth in water. I shot stereos of my
three grandsons underwater in my backyard pool. I don't really think
there was a "salon quality: stereo card in the whole bunch, but there
were a lot of fun stereos that we all enjoyed
