P3D Loreo flash adapter info needed

I hope someone out there knows of a way to do this, my point and shoot
Loreo's flash is about as bright as a nightlight on a foggy night and I
was wondering if there was a way to use an adapter so I could use
another hand held flash. I can only shoot something with the flash on
the Loreo when the subject is about 4 feet away, that's how week the
flash is! But wait, you are probably thinking "Joseph, you ding dong,
you're not using a high enough ASA", well according to the instruction
manual, it says to shoot with 200ASA or 400ASA. When I shoot anything
less than 800ASA the negs/prints come out severely underexposed even in
full sun. I usually have to shoot 1000ASA even outdoors. Does anyone
else who has this camera have this problem, and if so, have you figured
out what is WRONG with it? I sent the first Loreo I bought back to the
seller and they sent me a new one. The 2nd one had the same exposure
problems. It really seems odd to me that the instructions say 200 to
400 and it takes 1000ASA to get an adequate exposure. The seller
assures me that the camera is operating as designed. I'm saving up to
get a RBT, but in the meantime I'm planning on using my Loreo.
I have two trips planned to New Orleans over the next two months and
would like to take photos on decadent Bourbon Street and it's sinful
clubs! :-) but I really need more flash power or modify the camera so it
does not require such high ASAs. Any other Loreo owners please write me
and tell me how the camera is working for you and if you know a way to
rig another flash to it. Keep in mind that I'm not a mechanical
tech-head, so I probably would not be able to do rewiring or something
like that. Also, I want to know if this camera is just a big old piece
of crap and that's why it takes horrid exposures. Until I get my RBT
I'm trying to make do with the Loreo if possible.
PLEASE no one tell me to get a Realist, after everything I have read on
P3D, I know a Realist is not for me ( and not because I can't shoot
manual as some folks have said) Just for the record my new Minolta
Maxxum 500si that I have had for less than a month is THE FIRST auto SLR
camera I have ever had! Up until now every SLR I ever owned has been
manual and using hand held light meters. There has been a lot said on
P3D lately about pro photogs only using automatic everything, well let
me be the first to inform you, I have NEVER used auto SLR cameras in my
entire professional career! N-E-V-E-R! The only type auto cameras I
have used as a HOBBY are Nimslo, Nishika and the Loreo. I do not
consider point and shoot automatic cameras in the same league as SLRs.
In my career as a photographer the other photogs I have worked with also
shot on total manual cameras, like Hassleblad. So I don't know where
this idea comes from that we only know how to push a button on an
automatic camera. I get the impression from some of the postings on P3D
that some, not all, of the 3D guys think the experienced 2D
photographers are idiots and would not know how to use a camera if the
automatic features were turned off. When I was in Photography school
they only trained photographers on totally manual cameras and in my
experience most photographers that I have known have shot on manual
cameras their entire career. Anyway, that's my two cents on some of the
less than complimentary comments that have been made on here lately
about professional 'flattie' photographers.
Sincerely,
Joseph Covington
