P3D Visions of Side-bars . . .

Yesterday, while rummaging around in my workshop, I was delighted to
discover some small nuts & bolts--purchased at a local hardware store,
and for reasons now forgotten--are exactly the same threads and diameter
as tripod camera attachments. Immediately visions of slide-bars began
swimming in my head, large ones, small ones, red and blue ones.
Matching the threads and attaching a home made slide-bar to the tripod
was, I thought, my main obstacle all along?

Not one to waste time I grabbed my jig saw and one of the large clear
plastic slide out tray drawers from a utility chest--you know, the kind
you can see what's inside? I cut the tray in half, drilled a few holes,
added a bottom brace, painted it black, padded it with thin foam rubber
insulation to prevent scratching, and it was done. Total time, including
waiting for the paint to dry, 3-hours. Total cost? Nothing.

Today, many common household items have taken on new meaning and show
promise of greater things to come. Hmmmm, I wonder if the wife would
miss that drawer from her sewing cabinet?

And yes, I know, the question is bound to arise: "What the heck is that
thing on your tripod?
