Tom didn't miss the point at all. Color anaglyphs may be a color
separation gag, just an entirely different and incompatible gag than the
one proposed here.
How can this thing produce a "full colour anaglyph?" If you define a color
anaglyph as having natural colors, (in addition to the red and green,) then
this thing can't possibly make them.
Here's why: The red filter passes ONLY red, and the green filter passes
ONLY green. So no matter what, you don't get any natural colors, only
green and red. Definitely not a color anaglyph. Or any other kind.
Several people have suggested doing some simple tests. Why are we still
tossing out impossible theories when this is so easy to test? Either that
or look at http://www.deering.org/doomed.html I have laid this all out
very clearly with new graphics.
