I finally made it back to Idaho after a great time at the NSS caving
convention in Sewanee, TN and the NSA stereo convention in Richmond,
VA. Like everyone else it was great to meet all those people that I
have been admiring. I even got to finally meet in person the one
individual that has done more for my stereo "education" than anyone
else - the good Dr. T. Unfortunately he was much too busy to do much
socializing. I guess I will just have to make a special trip to his
home someday - if I am invited *{;-)

Anyway, on Friday Jon Golden and I gave a mounting workshop. Jon
covered all the basics of mounting with great side by side slides
showing the differences in the stereo window and various other
aspects of proper mounting. I covered how to mount in Spicer
cardboard mounts using an RBT jig and placing these in an EMDE binder
with glass for projecting in shows and competition.

My original plans were to take an actual roll of film shot in a
Realist camera and go through the entire process of mounting from
start to finish. This usually only takes me about thirty minutes (28
pairs). I had expected about 20-30 people to show up. Much to my
surprise there were well over 100 people in the room. Needless to say
I had to quickly improvise so I just explained how the process worked
and then invited anyone who was interested to come up afterwards and
I would be glad to show them any details.

There were a lot of interested people that came up and I hope that I
answered all your questions. If not, please feel free to contact me.

I am now convinced that there is a definte need (and market) for a
mounting video. So, if I can get some help and advice on how to go
about making one, I will. Please contact me with your ideas,
comments, suggestions, etc.
