like you, I disregard measurements and just take pictures. But,
apparently unlike you, I have a natural curiocity about how things work.
The geometry and theory behind stereo photography is fascinating, even
if it is not needed to take good pictures. The biggest reward behind
derving fundamental stereo photographic formulas is not that they give
you a tool to take pictures but that they make you aware of what is
involved, or "how things work". Deriving and undestanding theory and
formulas actually makes some people (like myself) less inclined to use
them! So, if the theory or formulas do not interest you, just skip the
messages. Thank you!<<<<

Dear Dr. Themelis:

At the risk of getting another nasty e-mail from you, may I ask you to
please look for your sense of humor? It was a joke, George! HA. HA. You
are not qualified to speak on my behalf as to what my interests are or
where my curiosities lie. Since you did nothing more at NSA than to
introduce yourself and walk off, you do not know me at all. Don't
confuse not being interested with not having the time. If I have to
choose between continuing to take acceptable stereo photographs with my
current arrangement or poring over mathematical equations and formulas,
I will choose photographing any day. That's not to say I'm not
interested in the theory(s) behind the result, I just don't have time.
Besides, one (wo)man's fascination is another (wo)man's boredom. Just
because you like it, doesn't mean everybody does. Since this thread
seems to have gone a little too far, I shall be withdrawing from it, but
I am still interested in any theories others may post.
