I remember that post as well and I think someone suggested cutting a scale
from the mounting gauges supplied by Reel 3D instead of risking the
focussing screen. Or perhaps it was my own idea , anyway I cut one end off
the full frame 35mm gauge as I was going to use it in my full frame Miranda
Sensormat which has a removeable pentaprism. This gauge actualy has a
maximum OFD of 1.5mm as well as 1mm and 0.5 mm for large scale projections
. As my home projection using my Fed with 80mm lenses would I thought be
quite a modest size I decided to use the 1.5mm for hypers taken from Fjord
ferries in Norway. The results were quite good
but the seperation is perhaps a little excessive maybe I should have used a
5 or 7 perf gauge with 1.2mm OFD or even the 1mm or 0.5 mm of the gauge I
was using.
I dont understand why they use 1.5mm for the ful frame 8 perf gauge is it
because of the extra width ? . Then why do the 7 and 5 perf gauges with 2
perf difference as opposed to just 1 both use 1.2mm and only differ in
their centres.
