P3D Photosmart scanner

Seems to me I saw a note on P3D a short while back that the HP Photosmart
scanner was available at Staples for $299 (making it $199 with the presently
available HP rebate).  None of the Staples stores in my area carry it, nor is
it even in their catalogue.  Does anyone know if  it really is available
anywhere for $299?

On another topic, driving through Connecticut on my way back from vacation
recently, my wife and I stopped at a restaurant for dinner, and I was
delighted to see little red View Masters at every table, with what promised to
be 3D shots of dessert.  Yum!  Unfortunately, all the reels contained were
flat shots of the desserts, with captions floating in the foreground.  What a
waste of a resource; what a disappointment.  I don't even know if the desserts
themselves were any good:  the ribs I had for dinner were so great that I
stuffed myself full on them and had no room for anything else.  But it does
seem to me there's a 3D commercial possibility here.  Does anyone know if it's
been well executed?
