P3D Panchromatic film
>>Surely there was good panchromatic film by 1933. I believe the first film
to use it was Wings (1929). Happily for the aviation sequences, the film
could reproduce clouds in the sky -- panchromatic film often rendered skies
as white, and clouds tended to disappear into them.
Yes, certainly there was. Eastman Kodak, Dupont, Ansco, and a few more all
produced films. As far as Panchromatic often rendering skies as white and
clouds disappearing, it is not the film, but the photographer, and his/her
lack of filter use. Pure white clouds against a black sky is easily
possible by the proper selection of filters.
