P3D The Land color perception experiment

Hi,
Just to put my two cents into this discussion, when the original Scientific
American article outlining the Land experiments came out I was fascinated by
the theory and just had to replicate it. I can say it definitely works and
reproduces the entire visible spectrum. One of my test slides was a Kodak
color chart. The point that is being missed is that one of the two images
has to be black and white and the two projected images must EXACTLY match or
the effect will not be seen. Any difference in the images or misalignment
and no color. I found this out after weeks of trying to get the effect. If
the two images were stereo pairs, they would not work since the two images
would be different.
A few pointers in case anyone wants to try the Land experiment. 1. You can't
use color film for either of the two images. 2. You can't use negatives. 3.
You need to project the two images at identical brightness levels and
precisely aligned. 4. It doesn't work for prints. 5. When you finally do get
it to work don't be disappointed if you can't get a photo of the effect. 6.
Be very persistent.
I have been trying to make "full color" anaglyph photographs for years with
no success. I have seen, and made myself, several anaglyphs with a wide
range of colors. What I have never been able to do is make an anaglyph
photograph in color that had the same color range and accuracy of a normal
color photo. That would be my definition of a "full color" anaglyph
photograph: It looks just like a color photograph of the same scene.
If anyone has produced such a photo anaglyph, I'd love to know how it was
done.
