P3D SLIDE BAR RAMBLINGS

>>Bob M., I could just as easily say, FORGET about doing portraits without
a
4000W/s strobe kit, because there will not be enough light for RAZOR
sharpness. All of my natural light images are substantially less sharp
compared to my strobe work - but look nicer in other ways... It just
depends on what QUALITY you are looking for.

With ALL DUE AND SERIOUS RESPECT....., please do not start changing the
intention of the original comment. As often happens in these lists, a
simple comment gets modified by someone, changed, cut and pasted and before
you know it, we are talking about and commenting on very little of the
original post. I went through the "What Is Quality" argument with other
photography lists. We did not settle it there and we will not settle it
here. What is quality to me might not be to you. For me, it is RAZOR SHARP
IMAGES.

My point was simply that if something moves between exposures, it affects
the quality of stereo. I did not mention anything about strobes and I do
not see how one can add this to the discussion. I think anything that
affects sharpness is of particular importance to Stereo Photographers.

So, I will say it again, using a slide bar to photograph any object that
can, does, and will move is not the best way to go, and the stereo will
suffer for it. THAT IS MY ONLY POINT. It is not a reflection on you or your
ideas, so do not get upset.

As far as strobes go, I have seen plenty of good stereo slides made with
electronic flash, but by far, the best flash photography I have ever seen
were made using a Realist flash bulb unit and flashbulbs. I have some
interior photographs of an Amtrak Train shot by a friend who is a long time
Realist Photographer and there is no evidence that flash was used.
Beautiful, even, color balanced lighting that rivals the same shots made by
his son using electronic flash. so, Given a choice, Yes.....I would prefer
not to use Strobes. compare well taken Flash bulb/reflector slides with
modern strobe lighting and if both images are made by someone who knows
what he/she is doing, the results are startling.

Does anyone here not agree or am I too picky?
