P3D 3-d in TLR finder?!?

How is it that I get a distinct sensationn of depth perception when
looking down into the  viewfinder screen of a Twin Lens Reflex?
Is it an illusion created on the fresnel or can the single lens be
transmitting a different light path to each eye?

(let not discuss the OTHER possibility, that I need my
medication.... :-) ).
