Another sad day for stereo. I came into contact with Guy when I
read about his special run of VM reels on flying gliders, in ISU's
Stereoscopy. I contacted him and bought one for $5. He wrote a
very nice letter and became friends via correspondence. He later
sent me the remaining lot of reels which I sold on his behalf in
NSA conventions and through photo-3d.
Even though I never met him in person, he was generous enough to send
me stereo slides of himself riding in his planes (he used a twin
Minolta camera setup at the wing to take pictures of himself and
his plane). He also sent a computer enhanced stereo where he
appears to be floating in the air with clouds in the back. He used
color markers to sign and write messages all around the white part
of the RBT mount. These slides and personal letters I will aways
treasure.
His contribution to stereo photography and his unique personality
will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
