P3D Re: Sunny 16 vs meter

>RE: Tom Deering is naive in stating a $20 meter will beat Sunny 16.
I said that my photos got better after I bought a meter, which is correct.
Bought it right after a whole roll was ruined by Sunny 16. My idea of
shade, inside a white tent, didn't agree with Sunny 16. I'll just have
them stage the barmitzva over again.
>Hollywood movie makers use incident light
You mean, a light meter? Of course they do. They certainly don't use
Sunny 16.
>Memorize Dr. T's table of offsets and you can shoot with abandon!
Well no, unless you ever want to shoot:
sandy beaches
snow-covered ground
near sunset or sunrise
rapidly changing conditions
anything before 10am
anything after 3pm
night scenes
artificially illuminated scenes
anything that requires a certain aperture
anything that requires a certain shutter speed
indoors, or anywhere the sun doesn't shine
Then the "simple" Sunny 16 rule either has to be adjusted, modified, or
thrown out completely. At which time most people will wish they had a $20
meter.
