I agree with those who say that a good stereo pcture is usually but not
always a good 2D image.  Stereo can make a very complex and busy scene
comprehensible.

As for the "rule of thirds", I use it all the time and have found that
it applies eqally well to stereo.  For those not familiar, this
compositional principle allows you to place elements of a scene in a
pleasing position within the frame instead of in the center.  Think of
the frame or window divided with lines like a tic tac toe board.
You place major elements roughly where the lines intersect.  It's a very
old idea.
