I have a Kalt zoom slide duplicator that I got at the flea market. I
want to make dupes of my slides. This particular duplicator came with a
sort of film holder (for uncut film, so I guess I have to decide before
I mount my pair). I use mostly Sensia 100 and have started
experimenting with Kodachrome 64. What film do I use to dupe either
Sensia or Kodachrome? Any suggestions about exposure? What should I
use as a light source? Any help will be appreciated. Can I expect
dupes to be as good or close to my original slides?

Brenda,
You can use a Duplicating Film, Kodak 5071 or SO366, depending on your
light source. But the problem, with those film, is that you must use
filters to balance the color. You can buy them from B&H, in either 100'
roll or 36 exposure roll. Duplicating film is less contrasty then
normal film, but try a roll of Ektachrome EPN-100, is suppose to have
less contrast then the rest of the normal film.
You could go out side and point it toward the sky or use a flash, to
make the exposure. I would recommend a flash, because it is stable and
less movement to the exposure. Make sure you write everything down on
paper, for exposure and setup.
Your dupes, will never be as good as the original slides, no matter how
good the duplication system, ( I am talking about, copying slides with a
camera system). But the better your copy lenses are, the sharper the
dupes.
I am using a Bowen system with APO enlarging lenses, to copy my 35mm and
2 1/4 slides, for my stereo and I am not really happy with the dupes but
that is about the best I can do with that system.
