P3D RE: Realist a P&S? (sort of)

I seem to be working on turning our Revere into a Point-and-Shoot. The
first day of our vacation, both the rewind knob and the focusing knob fell
off the camera (and I didn't even lose them!). The rewind knob had fallen
off before, so I had a set of screwdrivers in my suitcase (no, not with me
in my camera case). Unfortunately, the set screw on the focus knob is not
the same size as the one on the rewind.

So, with the focus painstakingly set for near infinity, I spent the rest of
our 2 week vacation composing for a set-focus camera. It was interesting,
and I did get some great photos back (hard not to do that in Yosemite and
environs). But, I did miss the ability to focus.
