P3D Storage for VM reels

Hi all,

Most probably this is the utmost reinvention of the wheel, but
then again. I found out that diskette drawers are a perfect
storage for ViewMaster reels (singles with jacket).
The ones that I have, hold about 200 of them and the drawers
are stackable (horizontally and vertically) so you can build
a complete 'system'. You can even use the dividers.
Drawers are available in every computer supplies store.
By the way, when I find VM reels without a jacket, I make my own
from (used) envelopes. Using a cutter, I create 9.5 x 9.5 cm
jackets with two open ends: top and right (or left if you want).
You can even tape one end and use a pair of scissors to make an
'indentation' for pulling the reel out :
                  _______ _______
                 | \____/ |
                 | |

Costs are nil and it's better than a bare reel.
Or are the drawers the wrong choice because they can't be used
for archival purposes of photographic material ?

And another second use: Stereocards fits nicely in the albums
stamp collectors use for their FDC's (First Day Covers) in plastic
jackets 20 cm wide and 11 cm high. Same archival question here.

Thanks for your time,

Peter
