P3D Painters and perspective

>>I think you are mixing up depth and stereopsis. A one-eyed picture can
show quite a lot of depth, otherwise generations of painters have been
wasting their time learning perspective.

I think inside every painter and every 2D photographer, there is a stereo
photographer waiting to get out. Ever notice how many photographer frame
their images? It is to get something in the foreground. This is what all of
us do, isn't it? Well, except for those who eschew depth in their images.

Look at movies...here again, many are framed to get the feeling of depth.
Cinerama and Cinemascope and a dozen other formats all tried to achieve the
look of depth in their process. Look at the old ads of the period, and
quite often, they are described in Stereo terms.

Finally, 3D is the way we see...the way we perceive... the way we hear and
experience life. Stereo photography came about because 2D was simply not
enough, and quite unnatural if you think of it.
