First, it is inexcusable to develop a cartridge of slide film as print
film. Slides end in "chrome" (Kodachrome, ektachrome, fujichrome) and
photos end in "color" (Kodacolor, fujicolor, etc...). Someone working
in a developing lab should know the difference between slides and
prints!

Hmm, how about this roll of Verichrome?
But, more seriously, ask your car mechanic how many diesel owners put petrol
in the tank.....
Who amongst us has ever seen (in detail, not just a quick highlight tour) the
workings of a modern mass market lab? I have (briefly worked in one) and
believe me it ain't pretty...in fact I'm surprised it doesn't happen more
often. I haven't had Kodak mount my slides (although they still process and
return them uncut) since they butchered five rolls (San Francisco, the Muir
woods, Yosemite & the Mojave) in August 1997. Until then they had done an
acceptable job on almost every roll of stereos I'd ever taken (maybe 40 or so
rolls since April 1995), and I've never had a problem with any of my flat
rolls (dozens, possibly hundreds, since 1977).
Since September 1997 I've been mounting my own with, if I do say so myself,
increasing proficiency, and increasing appreciation for the technicalities
(although I'm rapidly spending my children's inheritance on RBT mounts).
