Well, I know something about it. My friend Murray Lerner made the film
for a marine park that has long since vanished. It was made using
Robert Bernier's Spacevision over/under lens, the same one that 3D
pioneer Arch Oboler invested in. Murray made arrangements with the
original rights holder and has been licensing the film to various venues
all over the world for the last dozen years or so.
Murray, by the way, was not "Oscar nominated," but won an Academy Award
for his film, "From Mao to Mozart," a documentary about Isaac Stern in
China. He is probably best known for his other 3D film, called "Magic
Journeys," which opened Epcot Center and started the theme park 3D movie
boom. Murray also contributed the 3D "Birds" seqeunce to Universal's
Florida theme park Hitchcock show. His "flat" filmmaking includes music
documentaries on the Newport Jazz Festival and the Isle of Wight rock
festival. The latter has been recycled in a number of ways, including a
short feature of Jimi Hendrix' last performance (at Wight) and the
entire set by the Who (now playing pay-per-view) from the same event.
He's an interesting guy and not without talent.
Of interest to many on this list is the fact that Murray has challenged
much of the conventional wisdom of 3D filmmaking techniques and was the
first to experiment with stereoscopic CGI. He continues his interest in
3D films and plans to make more.
Hope this helps.
