So, now we've lost our friend Tom Deering.  Too bad.  I enjoyed his
postings and the exchange of ideas.  When I joined this list, I
understood that flaming would not be tolerated.  Yet, it has been.  And
now we have advanced to name calling.  I, like Jeff Jesse, have posted
questions off list at times, when the weather is hot, and some in the
group are testy.  This has got beyond needing a thick skin.  It isn't
that we can't tolerate rude responses-we just may choose not to.  Giving
license to rude behavior should not be an option.  A discussion list is
about keeping members, not losing them because we're unable to be polite
on list as we would be in person.  

Regarding filters.  It's none of my business how other people set up
their *own* computers.  IMO, if you buy your own computer and software,
you set it up the way *you* want.  No need for permission from the
immediate world.  How many of us have answering machines or caller
I.D.?  Have we *never* filtered a single call?  Did we ask all those
calling us, permission?
