P3D Kodak Stereo help

I'm rather new to stereo photography.  I just purchased an old Kodak Stereo at
a camera show and am a little confused on operating it.  How exactly do you
set the aperture and shutter speed on the camera?  Does the sliding scale on
the top of the camera have any effect on the camera or is just some kind of
cosmetic exposure guide to help you determine what to set the camera at (sort
of a "f-stop slide rule")?  Any other tips on the camera are also welcome.
