P3D New German Stereo Camera

There has been some speculation about the Gilde Camera.
I had a look at it at Photokina.
It is a very unusual camera for many photoghraphic fields.
The format is up to 6x17 cm and every format smaller than that.
This is possible through sliding masks in front of the film plane,
enabling you to side-shift at the same time (e.g. you have format 6/9
and simply don't use it in the MIDDLE of the 6/17 strip but a bit to the
left or right thus changing the perspective).
There is also horizontal shift.
It takes large format lenses and there is a special stereo lensplate
with two synchronized lenses on it and a divider that goes into the
camera.
It is not possible to change the base as such.
The camera is hand made and at DM 12,000 (ca. $ 6700) - without lenses-
not really a bargain.
But it made me think about modifying a view camera.
Principle:
-two lenses on the lens plate
-divider inside
-shoot on 4x5'
has anybody tried this?
Peter
