I don't understand exactly. My Vivid rewind knob will continue
turning as long as I want to keep turning it. It doesn't stop, it
just keeps spinning the rewound film in the cannister. I thought this
was normal - certainly not a problem.

Yes I'd like to know too. About six months ago, my Vivid somehow got
out of "phase". The advance knob would turn and turn without cocking
the shutter, but the shutter wouldn't trip when I pushed the button.
(Is this what Larry means?) I know this camera has a reputation for
being a mystery in a riddle in an enigma, and have heard some horror
stories about it being repaired into more trouble - so I was ready to
despair. I decided to take a chance and took the bottom panel off.
With my little screwdriver, I poked gingerly at a long bar in the
jumble of science inside. Something shifted abruptly, went
"Ker-Twang!" and the camera works fine ever since.

Except: As long as I have had it there has been some sort of light
problem appearing on the left image at the bottom-center (the camera's
top). It is a little milky comet-shaped light area that is maybe one
fourth the height of the image, always the same shape and in the same
place, but varying widely in intensity and sometimes not visible at
all. When I look inside the camera, I do notice that the area right
behind the left lens has a protruding shape in the upper inside wall
molding that is not present in the right side - apparently to
accomodate some mechanism inside. I'm guessing the edge of this form
makes a reflection. Anybody seen that bump or the image "comet" I'm
describing? Plausible cause? Got a fix? I'll send an example slide
to anyone who thinks they have the smarts to diagnose it.

Bruce.
