P3D Seattle Visit

Sometime back I posted that I was going to Seattle for a trip and
asked if there was anyone there who was willing to let me come
over and see their stereo work. I figured with an active stereo club
and such a big city, I would be flooded with offers. I wasn't *{:-(
However, Paul Ivester did respond and offered his house. Grant
Campos also spoke up and the meeting was set. I arrived about
6:00 PM after a grueling day sitting through meetings. Paul
graciously showed me his house (wonderful hilltop view of
downtown) and all his stereo goodies. We had to wade through the
stacks and piles of films to get to them though. Paul and his wife
collect old 16mm films and must have the world's largest collection
(remember all those science films you saw in high school? they
now reside in Paul's basement, living room, spare bedroom, attic,
garage, and some places I probably didn't get to see!)
Grant showed up about 7:00 and we ordered some great Indian
food for dinner. I really enjoyed talking with them as I don't have a
lot of opportunities besides this list.
After dinner Paul set up his TDC 716 and we were treated to a 3d
journey around the globe. Paul has been to some incredible places
and has captured them all in stereo. As they say: "it is just like
being there". Next came Grant's slides of his six day backpack
journey. A true testament to his fortitude to carry all that stereo
gear on top of everything else. My slides came last with most of
them cave shots, but I did throw in a few to show that I am capable
of photographing in natural light *{;-)
Thank you Paul and Grant, I had a really nice time looking at your
wonderful slides.
If anyone is ever someplace new (business or vacation) and they
have even a few short hours to spare I would strongly recommend
they try to find other stereo enthusiasts to share that time with.
You won't regret it.
Thanks for the time,
