This is my first public response to this listserve digest and I
don't mean to dredge up discussions that may have been beat to death
in the past. BUT I am also new to the serious world of 3D photography
and maybe it is just beginners luck but I must say that my best views
(in my humble opinion and incidently in the opinion of some of the
country's best judges, they know to whom I refer) have been very un-
planned. What little creativity that I bring to the slides seems to
be greatly enhanced by the quality of the Realist camera, the film, mounting
and the projection technology. So far in my first year of experience,
it seems that people in 3d do little more than add a sense of scale to the
image and serve (for unrelated viewers) as a focus of attention but don't
seem to add that much to the "3d uniquenes" of the image. I won't be
suprised if future experience makes me change my mind on this issue
but for the purpose of competitions, it seems that more depersonalized
images make a better impression.
Regards from the east side of town,
Harold Kaiman
