P3D rotation of slides while being projected

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this trick:
Rotate both halves of a stereo pair while it is being projected.
If both sides are rotated at exactly the same time and rate then you would
get simulated motion in stereo . This would be effective with an item that
shows no background or visible means of support such as geometric shapes or
minerals.
