P3D What is it?
I've had this contraption for about 5 yrs. and wonder what it is. The
box is marked Aufbewahrungskasten fur groBes / Bruckenraumglar. There is
a heavy binocular type piece which is marked Schnieder,Gottingen. It has
interoccular adjustment of 58-72mm. The objectives are spaced from
158-172mm. This viewer piece sets on a rack on which it can move left
and right over an 18" track. The objectives are about 3.25" above the
table surface and focus seems to be about 2.5" The area of view is a
circle about 2.5" diameter. I can use it to view stereo print pairs but
it highly magnifies a small area of the views. I assume this was used to
view aerial stereo views. I wish I could find some views which were made
for this. From its style, it appears to be 40-60 years old. Any ideas?
Does anyone know of a source for aerial stereo photos? I remember
looking at some in a college geology class 20 yrs ago. They were in
vertical strips about 2" wide and 10" tall. The mountain ranges looked
cool.
